Version: 2025.07

Welcome to my practice. Below, you will find essential information about counselling, our work together and some legal aspects you should be aware of.

Counsellor Ruxandra E. Săvulescu: I am a registered member of NFG (Nederlandse Federatie Gezondheidszorg, Independent Therapists Register, registration # 10004) and I practice under Ruxandra Săvulescu - Counselling based in the Netherlands and registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under the number 92062466.

Here’s some important information about counseling and how we’ll work together

The Process, Length, and Frequency

Our first meeting serves as an opportunity for you to assess how comfortable you feel speaking with me, understand the methods I use, and learn what to expect from our sessions. For me, this initial session helps clarify your reasons for seeking counselling or therapy, what areas would you like to focus on and whether I am the right fit to assist you. These areas can be adjusted over time to ensure our work remains relevant to your life circumstances.

My approach combines psychological methods for counselling, grounded in psychodynamic principles and the attachment theory. This means that, depending on your situation and goals, we might explore how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and emotional dynamics influence your current behavior and challenges. This approach encourages self-awareness and introspection as valuable tools for meaningful change and personal growth.

Detailed information about my methods and the principles guiding my work is also available on this website’s homepage, www.ruxandrasavulescu.com.

Counselling and therapy typically involves regular sessions lasting 50 minutes. The duration and frequency of our sessions may vary based on the nature of your concerns and your individual needs. These details are usually determined during our first session.

The process is not meant to be restricted to a predetermined number of sessions, and will evolve at a pace that suits you and aligns with your needs.

In counselling, our first meeting will focus on outlining a trajectory based on your specific goals or concerns. The number of sessions will be tailored to your needs and can be reviewed and extended if necessary.

While nor therapy, nor counseling can guarantee certain outcomes, and the focus may shift as we progress, we will work together to regularly evaluate your progress, adjust our approach if needed, and discuss whether to continue or conclude our work. When it’s time to end, we’ll conduct a final evaluation to reflect on your journey. You’re always free to conclude the process at any point.

I currently offer counselling and therapy exclusively online. All our conversations remain private and will not be recorded. I also ask my clients not to record our meetings or share our conversations.

Confidentiality

The information you share with me will be treated with strict confidentiality and will not be disclosed without your written consent. However, by law, confidentiality cannot be maintained in certain situations, such as life-threatening circumstances involving you or others, or instances where children are at risk (e.g., sexual or physical abuse or neglect).

If I need to consult with a colleague or supervisor about your treatment, I will anonymize your identifying information and use a pseudonym to protect your privacy.

Fee policies

The current rates can be found on this web page www.ruxandrasavulescu.com. If we work together over an extended period, the fee initially agreed upon may need to be adjusted to reflect changes in circumstances or operating costs. Any changes will be discussed with you beforehand, and we will reach an agreement together.

I currently do not work with insurance companies. This means that you will not have the option to recover part of the cost of your sessions. While this may not be ideal, working with an independent practitioner offers the advantage of accessing support without the need for a referral or diagnosis.

If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise, you may be charged for the missed session. Invoices are issued in EUR during the first half of the month for sessions attended in the previous month. These will be sent to your email address or delivered by another method, depending on your preference and the consent you’ve provided.

Invoices can be paid by bank transfer to the account shown on the invoice. If payment hasn’t been received, I will send you a friendly reminder. If payment is still not received within 14 days of the reminder, I may need to pause our sessions and take further steps to recover the outstanding amount, which might involve third parties. Any costs related to this process will be your responsibility.

Referrals

Please know that I do not provide diagnoses, prescribe medication, or offer treatment for formally diagnosed psychological disorders. If, at any point during our work together, I feel it’s necessary or in case of an emergency, I will recommend that you contact your general practitioner for further evaluation. If a referral is appropriate and possible, I can support you in involving a practitioner who is best suited to assist you.

Physical and psychological complaints often influence one another, so I encourage you to check in regularly with your general practitioner. If you experience any physical symptoms, please seek medical attention as needed.

Finally, please note that I do not offer counseling or coaching services to individuals under the age of 18.

Freedom to withdraw

You are free to end the counselling/therapy process at any time. If you choose to do so, I’m happy to refer you to other qualified counsellors or therapists, if desired. In some situations—such as unforeseen circumstances (force majeure) or if I believe you may benefit more from another form of support—I may also initiate the conclusion of our sessions. In that case, we can explore whether it would be appropriate to continue working together with a different focus or goal.

Key Legal Aspects to Be Aware Of

How I Use Your Data

I will process only the minimum amount of personal data necessary, including your full name, date of birth, address, phone number, email, online video conferencing ID, IBAN and your IP if we sign documents online which include an audit trail. Additionally, I may process health-related information if it is necessary and relevant for our work together or to comply with legal requirements. If external service providers are involved in the execution of our contract—such as accounting service providers or providers of online intermediation platforms—your personal data may be shared with them only to the extent required for fulfilling the contract. These providers are obligated to maintain confidentiality when processing your data.

How I Secure Your Data

To ensure the security of your personal data, your personal data is stored on external media that is password-protected or in a cloud that is GDPR compliant and password-protected. If your contact information is saved on my phone, the phone is secured with a password. I take these measures to protect your personal data and comply with confidentiality and security obligations.

Use of Communication Tools and Data Security

Video conferencing platforms and communication tools for video or audio calls, are independent entities that implement their own data security measures, including encryption. However, I encourage all clients to be aware that the use of technology carries inherent privacy risks. By using email, telephone, text messages, or other technology, you acknowledge and accept these potential risks to your privacy.

Notes and Record-Keeping

The notes I maintain in your client file will focus on the goals we establish, topics brought in the sessions that are relevant for your goals, the interventions used, potential referrals to other specialists, health-related information (if necessary and relevant), and evaluations of your progress during and at the conclusion of our work. I am legally obligated to keep these files in an identifiable form for a certain period of time (20 years).

Additionally, any supplementary notes I may take after sessions will serve to assist my memory, track progress, or keep records of sessions and payments. These notes will not include your full name or other information that could make you easily identifiable and will be stored only as long as necessary for our work together. Under the "right to be forgotten," you may request the deletion of these supplementary notes by writing to me at counselling.ruxandrasavulescu@gmail.com, and they will be deleted within one month of your request.
